How to Best Prepare for Your 2024 Social Media Strategy

Want to be crushing it with your social media content strategy in 2024? Make sure you check the 6 key aspects below to make even better content (and more money) in the new year.
Look, we know it all too well: you’ve been working away this year, going after your goals, intentions, and dreams. You may feel exhausted. You may want to go into full-on bear mode and eat snacks, be on the couch, and hibernate in your cave.
And we get it! You so deserve all the rest in the world. We really are about self-care and a work-life balance in business. BUT we also want to suggest that winter is THE perfect time to reflect and that’s what this blog post is all about.

When it comes to your social media, you can use this darker season to your advantage by getting cozy, lighting a candle, taking out either your laptop or a journal, and checking in with what was working this year for your strategy.
And don’t worry! You do not have to think TOO hard yet about future plans, this is the fun part, being inspired by what worked previously and creating a vision for the next year of social media content strategy.

Have a close look at your analytics:
If you have a business account (if not, WHAT are you doing, get one ASAP!) you can peak into your analytics to evaluate your most popular pieces of content this year. You want to check engagement rates, follower growth, and reach! See if you can identify patterns of what worked well in terms of format or content itself and what didn’t - this way you’re setting yourself up for improvement in the next year!
Do a content deep dive:
Following the step above, you want to look at individual, best-performing pieces of content and understand what the common elements are that resonate with your audience. Okay, if you’re already internally screaming and thinking “AHHH too much WORK” - you will thank us later. And: one easy way to do this is to create an Excel document, copy-paste content/captions, note the format (carousel/reel/etc), and then identify patterns, highlighting themes in the same colour. This will help you A TON in understanding what your audience resonates with and wants to hear more of.
TIP: Don’t overlook comments! Practice social listening and read what people have to say in the comments to get meaningful insights into what moves them.
Check in with your ideal client avatars:
Chances are your business has evolved, you have evolved and so have your offers. Check in with your ideal client avatars and customer profiles to see if they are still in alignment with what you have to offer. Do you speak to their needs? Does your content offer a smooth transition into your offers? It’s always worth it to have this double-checked.

Keep up to date with platform trends and updates
Staying up to date with trends and updates is - if you like it or not - part of playing the social media game. Staying ahead of the curve means that your content strategy will remain relevant and effective. Set goals for the next year:
Based on the steps above, or more fancy: your year-end-analysis, you can now set specific and realistic goals for the upcoming year. Make sure you know what it is that YOU want and makes the most sense for YOUR business when it comes to metrics. It could be increasing engagement, growing your following, or getting more website traffic from your social media. Having a clear purpose for your content strategy will get you from 'just posting to be on there’ to leverage social media in a way that contributes to your overall business success.
